Obama to outline loan changes

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama is trying to make it easier for the tens of millions of people who are paying back federal student loans.

Today, he’ll announce new requirements for certain lenders during a speech at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Third party lenders that contract with the government to collect on loans will be required to better inform borrowers of their repayment options and notify them when they’re delinquent on payments.

There’ll also be a website where students can track what they owe.
