Hi Movement Makers! Have you had negative comments made about your age, no matter how old you are, either in your past or current job? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced this not only in the corporate world, but also in entrepreneurial ventures I’m pursing.
I used to think maybe everyone that’s telling me I’m too young to be chasing after certain goals and dreams are right. Now I’ve reached a point in my life where I don’t let these age-related comments stop me from going after what I want to do.
How do you know if you could be facing age discrimination? Some signs include:
- Age-related comments such as “you’re way too young” or “old man”
- Favoritism towards a specific age group – for example, employees under the age of 30 will be invited to a team event and not “older” employees
