Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) saw his 2016 presidential ambitions hit yet another snag today as two of his former top staffers were indicted for their role in the closing of a lane on the George Washington bridge, a scandal referred to popularly as ‘Bridgegate’. The indictments came just hours after another top Christie ally David Wildstein, a former executive with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey implicated the pair in his guilty plea taking responsibility for the conspiracy.
Wildstein named both Christie’s former Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Kelly and former Deputy Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Bill Baroni. Wildstein pleaded guilty on two counts of conspiracy, while Kelly and Baroni face 9 counts including conspiracy and fraud charges.
